Trans awareness in higher education
Aimed at: All colleagues
Duration: 1 hour
Overview: These sessions can be arranged upon request - please contact the Equality and Diversity Team at Equality@leedsbeckett.ac.uk to request this. The session provides an informal space to learn about the basics of trans issues and how they are relevant to staff and students in higher education. Colleagues will have the opportunity to ask questions in a safe environment - no matter how "small", "stupid" or "offensive" - and to discuss approaches to different situations with small groups of colleagues. The aim is to familiarise colleagues with trans issues, to encourage them to think proactively about how we can support our trans students and colleagues, and to enable them to discuss the subject with confidence.

Unconscious Bias: Intermediate Level
Aimed at: All colleagues
Duration: 1.5 hours
Overview: This is an online module, accessible via the Training Library in the People Development Online system. This intermediate level module will give you the opportunity to think about situations where your own unconscious bias might affect your ability to make objective decisions or judgements and aims to help you understand: that we are all biased, the subconscious nature of bias, that bias can impact all the decisions we make and how to manage bias. This is a stand-alone training product which has been purchased from Skill Boosters and should take between 60 and 90 minutes to complete. The scenarios are all office-based but the principle applies equally in an academic environment. The material is divided into sections and does not have to be completed in one sitting so progress can be saved and returned to at a later time (within a month of starting the module).
