An Introduction to Distance Learning
Aimed at: Anybody new to developing, delivering or supporting distance learning
Duration: 1.5 hours
Overview: Distance learning is a strategic priority for Leeds Beckett, and understanding the Whys, Whats and Hows of the Leeds Beckett Way will help you to be effective in this new area of provision. This workshop will: give you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the DLU, its instructional designers and our Distance Learning design, including examples of current DL provision and will show you how to access the Distance Learning resources available to you.

Delivering Distance Learning
Aimed at: Module tutors, support tutors, CDT
Duration: 2 hours
Overview: Now that you have built your distance learning course, join this workshop to get access to tips and tricks for delivering an engaging distance learning experience. This workshop will: familiarise you with online communication protocols, including a range of support mechanisms and provide you with techniques for moderating, socialising and engaging your students online.

Developing Distance Learning - Activities
Aimed at: CDT Teams, academics, learning techs
Duration: 2.5 hours
Overview: Well-designed, purposeful and engaging activities are key to positive student experiences in distance learning. This workshop will: look at learning activities and the learning experience in depth and provide examples of activities, resources and tools that you can use to both deliver learning and build a community of practice

Developing Distance Learning - Starting Up
Aimed at: CDT Teams and academics
Duration: 2 hours
Overview: Ready to delve into the world of designing distance learning? Start here with the first of two workshops on developing distance learning. This workshop will: introduce the DLU Core Principles and methodologies, look in depth at designing for Efficiency, Maintenance and House Style and review examples and resources available to help you design your distance learning.

Planning Distance Learning
Aimed at: FLT, Course Leaders, CDT teams, Heads of School, Staff Leads
Duration: 2 hours
Overview: Crucial to the development and launch of a successful distance learning course is project planning and commissioning. This workshop will: Cover the market analysis, business case and Course Validation process for a distance learning course, highlighting areas of difference from face-to-face provision and discuss project planning, costing tools, deployment and scheduling.
